This year, Crawford College Lonehill hosts its first Fun Run/Walk and Fun Day. This event was born from the idea that the College wanted to contribute to the efforts of the Cansa Association of South Africa. The entry fee for the event is R30. This fee, in its entirety, will be donated to the Cansa Association of South Africa. They are very excited as a College to host this event, and to raise money and awareness. After the run/walk, please join them on the field for a fun day in the sun.

Well by now the 'Royal Couple' should be sunning themselves at Flamingo Bay in Mozabique.

Despite a cold front making an uninvited guest appearance on the day and bringing with it some rain, it was still a beautiful occassion.

Sadly the Bus Driver would not let us photograph her with her hat on despite the odds being bandied about however we did catch her doing her "Titanic" impersonation.

The Moose showed off his dance moves and we were also blessed to have our 'International Athletes' share the day with us.

Sorry there have been so few details from the Epic this far but we literally finish the days stage and start the prep for the next day. It is like running a military operation.

Highlights

Day 1 (27k timetrial 800m vert ascent)
-very cool time trial through Tokai forest. Took a huge wipe out on a steep technical downhill in front of the cameras.

Day 2 (89k 2050m vert ascent)

Some of our members have decided to take on the Epic Challenge of 707km of mountain biking over 8 days in the beautiful Cape Province.

They are: Chad & Eric (aka Sandal Boy) and Vic Slosh & Dave.

Vic & Dave will also be using the Epic to raise funds for the Wildlands Conservation Trust and would be extremely grateful for any contribution. They have set up a donation site at Race4Charity. The latest addition to the Morning Group is baby Nicholl - Richard (namesake to Higgs).

So I finally gave in to the pressure to represent Gauteng at SA Marathon Champs with the rest of the team in George this past Sun 13th Feb.

I say against my initial desire as I’ve been avoiding this for 2 yrs now as it wasn’t really a part of my plan nor did I want the pressure of it all. But after much discussion with ‘Coach Dave’ I decided to do it for the experience and to say ‘been there, done that, got the tracksuit’. Had I not gone down to George I would’ve done PnP marathon anyway so what the heck, it’s all part of the training right?

The Morning Group seems to have several traditional events throughout the year..one of them being our annual Christmas Party.

Our esteemed Webmaster (aka Chaddy Waddie) had an absolute ball, at times got cosy with fellow runners and was literally 'man down' by the time he left.
